In my opinion, i believe war is one of the worst things a country can do to rid of a problem. And im not just talking with us in our war with Iraq. I don't think you really benefit from a war....all you do is kill, waste, and destroy.
with a war we are wasting so much resources! we as a global community cant be so wasteful. Eventually fossil fuels will be gone.. then what are we going to do?? There NEEDS to be a change if we want to go on living life as we do now.
Also, I think every person has the right to live and if they have done something wrong, they should live with the consequences of that. If you just kill them, then they die with the satifaction of whatever they did. Whereas if they are not killed, they are giving the choice to change. Im not saying that everyone who commits a crime should be set loose and go and do it again..but i think that everyone deserves a second chance... Also, have you ever thought about the innocent people that are being killed every day?? its ridiculus!! And we wonder why every other country hate us? we ruin their lives, destroy their homes, and waste way too much energy. We are selfish and careless and if we want other country's to provide for us, to buy from us, and to care about us then we need to stop and think about others instead of the benefit of our country....
i may be wrong...

I agree with you 150%. In my opinion, half the wars that are fought globally are over stupid, insignificant things that won't matter a year in the future. Instead, we provoke each other until we're becoming muderers, wasting lives, resources, and money over nothing. We should be concentrating on more serious problems that will affect everyone around the world, problems that are closing in on us that we are too blind too see. We're not as invincible as people seem to think.
Lauren, I agree with you by saying that war does not really solve anything. War just kills people, costs a tremendous amount of money, and heartache. However, I disagree with you on the second part of your response. I believe that if you commit a crime you should be punished. A perfect example of this would be killing someone. The person committing that crime should be prosecuted to the fullest extent. If someone took the life of someone you loved wouldn't you want the killer to be punished? I know I would!
That's a good point, Ivy. However, I don't think it's right to kill or hurt people to show that person that killing is wrong. Can you kind of see what I mean? Getting revenge is what many wars are started out of. If we could learn to forgive...well, that would take too much effort from the people of the world, I guess.
But I do agree that war is not a good thing to get into. Someday, when there are no fossil fuels left and we don't know what to do, we'll look back and say, "Boy, we really shouldn't have wasted all our resources on that dumb war"...
Lauren, I completely agree. I think it's so dumb for us to fight other people's battle's. In Iraq, we went there to get them a better government system, yes we helped the people who wanted to be helped and wanted a change, but look at how many people don't want help or a change at all and are resisting this war. So many innocent people are killed everyday and it's sickening. We start wars to gain peace... I think that there is something completely wrong with our countries idea of peace. Many adults complain about violence but they are for the war, this is so hypocritical. If you want to send a message at least get your message straight, you know?
I wish kids ran the world. Don't you think our biology classes would totally do a good job if we ran the government?
Hahahaha. We would.
Anyway, this whole anti-war thing makes me so excited. Like what you said, Amy, it doesn't make sense to fight someone because you want peace. If there is really a need for war, maybe because of a defensive thing, then perhaps it is okay. But it seems like many times, we just waste so many resources by going to war. Destroying our world and the lives of its people...there is no good excuse for this action. I know world peace wouldn't come easily, but wouldn't it be nice?
Haha so true. I think it's horrible that the only time we ever try to do something for other people, it ends in death. It's so sad.
I do not think you are wrong in your thinking. I agree with the fact that we are a selfish country. We are, in a sense, a bully to other countries because we take and waste without considering the consequenses.
I also agree with you lauren. We are using up too many resources when we have a war. We use up gas to power all of our war machines, using up metals to make guns and weapons, and using up too much energy using computers.I think that this is unacceptable and should cease and decist as soon as possible.
I agree with you all. I find the idea of war so barbaric and ridiculous. I know that's kind of a cliched thought, but I really think it's true. I've always hated it when people act like world peace is some ridiculous idealistic naive thought. It's just a fact that if people would stop being so ignorant and join together as a world community, there would be no wars. Why is the idea of not bombing other countries considered so "crazy and dumb!" Seriously?
The only far fetched aspect of it is that (sadly) there aren't enough rational, intelligent leaders out there to commit to world peace. We are currently under the leadership of a person who shouldn't be running a local parade, let alone an entire country.... I'm not being sarcastic.
Ugh....

I'm glad so many people actually agree with me. honestly, peace can be achieved if everyone just would put in an effort, even if it is small. Our generation is the one to change things...
Leonardo da Vinci hated war; in fact the weapons he created for his patrons were deliberately flawed. The idea of war is barbaric, and the concept of killing a fellow man is detestable, regardless of his beliefs. I hate war, I hate what it does, and I hate the end result; but you must understand that as long as the human race still breathes there will be conflict. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but sometimes war is necessary. For instance, if America was attacked, and we lived in an occupied zone, I would kill anyone who threatened the lives of my friends and the life of freedom. I hate war, but I love freedom, I love my friends, and I love life- to keep this I would fight for it, and against whomever stood in my way. Last, I don’t talk about the war in Iraq. Not because I don’t want my voice to be heard, but whatever I say, it will be wrong, somehow, because people protest it left and right. It’s not because I’m afraid of being wrong, it’s because I enjoy seeing people speak what their hearts tell them. That’s freedom to protest the war in Iraq, and to fight others about whether it is right or wrong; take thought to this.
