I believe that thermal pollution is a very important problem that needs to be fixed. In order to fix thermal pollution, we should simply make it illegal to have companies dump the hot water back into the streams they got it from. Thermal pollution is when companies take cold water from streams and use it to cool down their machines. After, they take the used, hot water and dump it back into the stream. Thermal pollution causes many fish species to die because the water temperature changes dramatically in a small period of time; not enough to give the fish a chance to adapt to the temperature. This causes thermal shock, which then kills the fish. Thermal pollution is a major problem and needs to be acted upon immediately. It could be made illegal because if companies were creative enough to do this, then they could surely fabricate a new plan, that is Earth-friendly, to cool their machines.

Danica, I did thermal pollution for my wiki project and there are some Earth-friendly ways to help control this problem. Examples would be to use wet or dry cooling showers to cool down the machines. We also could try to use less electricity at home so the power plants don't have to generate that much more electricity, which in turn would make the machines heat up less.
I never really thought about thermal pollution before, but after reading your post I feel the same way you do. I agree that these companies should be required to find more environmentally friendly ways to cool their machines.
Thermal pollution is indeed horrible, it kills many many species of fish; sadly, very few people are even aware of this pollution and thats probably why in my opinion it is the worst. How many activist groups do you really hear of that speak out about thermal pollution?
Danica I think you chose a great topic to write about because not many of peoplea are aware of this problem. I know that I wasn't that aware of it until now. I think that you should not be allowed to dumpe the hot water back into the cold water ecosystems because it ruin's the fishes habitat. Also it is harmful to many fish because the water temperature is changing dramatically. I thought this was a great topic to post about Danica nice work.
